How the name was read
Each atlas was set in type by a different hand and scanned decades later, so the same establishment comes back spelled differently. Every reading below was produced by the recogniser from the sheets; none was corrected or invented. They are published so a search for any of them finds this page.

Named in the 1897 county history
The history of Essex County was published 2 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.
March 26, 1776, an attempt was made, to allow the Grammar School to be kept at the South School- House, their proportion of time. This, the first school-building in South Georgetown, was on the corner of Brook and Central Streets, where the brick house of Lowell G. Wilson now stands. The request does not seem to have been acted upon, the war then bursting upon the country with all its uncertainty, drove all other thoughts from their minds. In 1777 the teacher divided his services for the year, with the school at the North, that on Searl Street, the South School and the ea-^terly end of the parish, but not further down than Mr. Phinehas Dodge's house, and that each family signify, what school-house they choose.
Named in the same survey
2 establishmentsThe surveyors walked Essex County once and wrote down what they found. These are the other establishments from the same atlas, each with the line it was read from.

Provenance
Read by machine from the printed index of the Sanborn fire insurance atlases of Manchester, Massachusetts, held by the Library of Congress. Sanborn atlases published before 1930 are in the public domain. Only names that at least three of four independent readings agreed on are published, and no spelling has been corrected: what appears here is what the recogniser returned from the ink.
