Named in the 1883 county history

The history of Bristol County was published 20 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

Mansfield's new townhouse was dedicated in 1883, the sum appropriated for the building being $15,000. The postoffice, Carroll L. Bessom postmaster in 1923, has a building of its own. It was formerly at the Four Corners, and in the old Park Hotel building.

Read by machine from the printed index of the Sanborn fire insurance atlases of Bristol County, Massachusetts, held by the Library of Congress.
