Sanger, the town this property stands in, in 13 storm reports between 1995 and 2023: 5 hail, 3 funnel cloud, 2 flood, 1 strong wind.

opens the federal record of that event.
Larger hail damaged strawberry fields west of Sanger. Actual size not reported but presence of damage indicates larger hail present. One other Severe Thunderstorm warning was issued late in the afternoon (at 1610 PST) that was based on a meso-cyclone radar signature in the vicinity of Kingsburg. However, no verification occurred from this storm that was warned for both Fresno and Tulare County.
Nearby thunderstorm activity along the Southern Sierra Nevada foothills spawned a gust front over the Fresno County East portion of the San Joaquin Valley floor in the vicinity of Sanger during the afternoon hours of the 13th. While no specific ag damage was listed by the Ag Commissioner, there were reports of downed tree limbs and downed fruit from gusty wind. The reported wind from the east at 26 MPH was measured at the Fresno Air Terminal which was 8 miles northwest of the Sanger area.
Strong reflectivity on the San Joaquin Valley WSR-88D prompted the issuance of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for South-Central Fresno County and Northwestern Tulare County at 1446PST with a valid time of 45 minutes. Hail size of one-half to three-quarters inch hail was observed in Sanger (12 miles ESE of Fresno) from this storm. While the Severe was likely needed for both Fresno and Tulare Counties, no verification could be obtained from the Tulare County side of the line. The reflectivity associated with this storm was 65dBz and VIL of 37.
