For distances of more than three miles the cost of a special conveyance must be paid in all cases (if no public conveyance is available) in addition to the Ex- press fee.
Persons or Firms who desire at any time to receive their letters, or other postal packets of any kind (including parcels) in advance of the ordinary delivery, may have them delivered by special messenger on payment of the following fees, viz. : The full Express fee of 3d. a mile as for one packet, and Id. for every 10 or less number of additional packets beyond the first.
An International Express Service is also in operation between the United Kingdom and certain Foreign Countries, particulars of which can be obtained at any Post Office.

Money may be transmitted by Telegraph Money Order between all Post Offices in the United Kingdom authorised to transact Telegraph and Money Order business.
The commission is -
For sums not exceeding £3 4d.
In addition to the Commission, a charge is made at the ordinary Inland rate for the Official Telegram authorising payment at the Office of Payment, the minimum being Qd. The telegraph charges only cover the cost oi trans- mitting the Official Telegram of Advice to the Postmaster of the Office of Payment. Any telegraphic communication which the Remitter may wish to despatch to the Payee must be paid for at the ordinary Inland rate, the minimum being 6d.

Money Orders do not require a receipt stamp.
Although at the end of twelve months from that in which it was issued, at Money Order, if still unpaid, becomes legally void, nevertheless, when a good reason can be given for the delay in presenting it, an application for payment, subject to a ceilain deduction, is entei-tained.
No application can be entertained for compensation for alleged injury from the non-payment of a Money Order at the expected time.
After once paying a Money Order, by whomsoever presented, the Office is not liable to any further claim.
Postal Orders.
Postal Orders for certain fixed sums from is. up to £1 are now issued at all Money Order Offices in the United Kingdom, at the British Post Office at Constantinople, and in Malta, Gibraltar, India, Straits Settlements, Hong Kong, and Newfoundland. Such Postal Orders are paid at all Money Order Offices in the United Kingdom, and at the British Post Office, Con- stantinople. Payment is also made in Malta and Gribraltar provided the Orders were issued in the United Kingdom or at the British Post Office,
The following are the amounts for which Postal Orders are issued, to- gether with the Poundage payable in i-espect of each Order : - Amount of Order. Poundage. - Amount of Order. Poundage.
Broken amounts may be made up by the use of postage stamps, not exceed- ing fivepence in value, affixed to the face of any one Postal Order.
The person to whom a Postal Order is issued imist, before parting with it, fill in the name of the person to whom the amount is to be paid, and may fill in the name of the Money Order Office at which the amount is to be paid. The person so named must, befoi-e payment can be made, sign the receipt at the foot of the Order, and must also fill in the name of the Money Order Office, if that has not been already done.
Every person to whom a Postal Order is issued should keep a record of the number, date, and name of office of issue, to facilitate enquiry if the Order should be lost
These banks are established under the provisions of the Act 24 Vict., cap. 14, intituled, " An Act to grunt additional facilities for depositing small Savings at interest, with the Security of the Government for the due Repayment thereof," and are open daily during the hours appointed for money order business for the receipt of deposits of one shilling, or any number of shilUngs, subject, of course, to the limitations of amount prescribed in the Acts previously in force for Savings Banks.
Deposits are received of any sums not less than a shilling or more than £50 in one year, and when the deposit reaches £1, interest at the i-ate of 6d. a year on each pound deposited is given.
Lmiit of deposits, £200, inclusive of interest, except deposits for Chari- table Societies, the limit being £100 in one year, or £300 in all.
Any depositor in the Post-Office Savings Bank may invest any sum up to £200 in Government Stocks at the current price of the day, and may sell at the same. The commission for buying or selling is, not exceed-
The amount of Government Stocks which any one person can buy in a year must not exceed £200, and the whole amount which he can hold in such Stocks must not exceed £500.
Life insurance for any amount not less than £6 or more than £100 may be effected liy any person not over the age of 6.5 years and not vmder the age of Immediate or Deferred Annuities are granted for any amount not less than persons whose lives are insured, or to whom Annuities are granted by the Post- master-(^eneral, have direct Government security for the payment of the money at the proper time.
Forms of proposal for the insurance of lives and the purchase of Annuities, and infoi-mation as to filling them up, may be obtained at any Post Office.
Post-Office Telegraphs.
The charge for Telegrams throughout the United Kingdom is 6d. for the first 12 words, and ^d. for each additional word. Addresses are charged for.
Telegrams uiay be repeated at the request of the sender, if he desires to adopt this extra security against risk of error, by being signalled back from each office at which they are i-eceived to the office from which they are for- warded. The charge for repetition is one half the ordinary tariff ; a fraction of a halfpenny being reckoned as a halfpenny.
The cost of a reply not exceeding forty-eight words may be pi-epaid.
Copies of a Telegram, directed to more than one firm or person in the same free delivery will be delivered separately at an additional charge of twopence per copy. Each London Postal District is regarded for this purpose as form- ing a separate Deli very.
Figures are counted at the rate of five figures to a word. Fractions are counted according to the nimiber of figures employed, one figure being counted for the mark of division, thus - ^ counts as one word, and 109^- as two.
All Telegrams for delivery within three miles will be delivered free. For distances beyond three miles the charge will be Bd. per mile, reckoned from the office of delivery.
The Aberdeen Post Office is now in direct Telephonic Communication with all the important towns in the United Kingdom, during such hours as they are open for Telegraph business, and also at certain other towns during the hours they are closed for Telegraph business. Any person may register an abbreviated or arbitrary address on payment of a fee of £1 Is. a year, dating from the day of registration. The address must consist of not less than two words, one of which is to be the town or place of delivery,
