The top end of Fall Creek road was washed out and the West Fork of James Creek near Atlanta road was also washed out. A new washout scar was seen in the wilderness area near Jackson Peak on the Upper North Fork of the Boise River.

June 2025Flash FloodLowman-A Forest Service official reported that Forest Service Road 555 (Scott Mtn Rd) was washed out as a result of a stream of water ran over the road. The radar estimated rainfall total was 0.3 inches, with a maximum estimated rainfall rate of 2 inches per hour. Timing was estimated from peak hydrophobic unit flow.
August 2025Flash FloodGarden Vly-A small amount of water in a recently burned area with steep slopes allowed standing water to accumulate to 3 feet next to Hwy 21 near MP 80. This occurred around the same time as mudslides and rockslides on the same highway. While radar captured very little precipitation, this area was known to be susceptible to runoff, especially with the recent wild fires.
August 2025Flash FloodLowman Warm Spgs Arp-Rain amounts of 0.2-0.3 inches in an hour caused a debris flow that trapped cars near MP 103 of Hwy 21. This surprisingly small amount of water produced a mudslide because of two important reasons. First, the Wapiti burn scar last year burned very intensely in the flood location, leaving lots of ash and debris on the ground. Second, this portion of Hwy 21 is notorious for avalanches because of it's steep, fairly sparse forest. The very steep open slopes that were primed with ash allowed the small amounts of water to run off almost immediately, carrying debris and mud with it.
October 2025Thunderstorm WindHorseshoe Bend-Wind damage cut off power to 3790 people in the Horseshoe Bend, Crouch, and Placerville area as winds along a gust front moved through. Damage estimated to be 60 mph based on power pole damage.

NWS employees took photos of one home that was damaged and reported that Grandjean Road was impassable due to mud and debris.

August 2002WildfireGarden Vly-The Garden Valley Complex Fire started on July 22nd as 30 small lightning-caused fires and grew to cover 1131 acres in the Boise National Forest before being contained on August 10th. No structures were lost. The total cost of fighting the fires was $8.1 million.
