Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Onondaga in 8 storm reports between 1997 and 2026: 4 hail, 4 thunderstorm wind. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.

WhenEvent Place namedHarm What the report says
May 2011Thunderstorm WindOnondaga$1,000,000A damage path of nearly 20 miles in length and 0.5-1 mile in width was caused by a bowing segment of an MCS. The path extended from Onondaga northeast to Vantown. As a result of the high winds, numerous large trees were wither uprooted or snapped. Some homes sustained roof damage as well as some barns.
June 2007Thunderstorm WindOnondaga$15,000Numerous trees were blown down in the Onondaga area.
April 2009Thunderstorm WindOnondaga-Widely scattered tree damage began 1.75 miles east-northeast of Onondaga and continued just north of due east into Leslie. There was a successive failure of 32 power poles on a north-south powerline about 1 mile west of Leslie. Speaking with an engineer on the scene, his thought was that the wooden poles were not quite robust enough to handle the weight of the 6 conductors and that the failure was preceeded by one or two poles that had started to lean due to wet ground conditions over the past several months. The thunderstorm wind gust was then enough to overload one of the leaning poles causing it to snap near its base. The falling pole then pulled on adjacent poles initiating a cascading failure both north and south of the initial failure. The cascading failure was witnessed by a nearby resident. The wooden poles were being replaced with steel towers.
July 2008HailOnondaga-One inch diameter hail was reported by a trained spotter just northwest of Onondaga.
June 2008Thunderstorm WindOnondaga-Multiple power lines were blown down between Onondaga roads and Bunker and Poles roads.
June 1998HailOnondaga-A trained weather spotter reported baseball-sized hail and wind gusts to 50 mph. Hail reportedly damaged some auto glass and roofs in the area, but damage estimates were not available.
