March 2008Flash FloodGreeley1 killed, $400,000Very heavy rain fell over Reynolds county beginning late on the 17th of March and throughout the day on the 18th. The co-operative observer in Ellington reported a storm total of 9.7 inches. Four inches of rain fell in Ellington through 8 am on the 18th, then another 2 inches fell between 8 am and 11 am on the 18th, with an additional 3.7 inches in the hours after that. This caused the creeks in the area to rise rapidly including Logan Creek which flows through the middle of Ellington. The creek began to rise rapidly around 7 am, rising nearly 10 feet by noon. Around 8 am, an 81 year old man was trying to clear some flood debris from a bridge that goes over the creek next to his business and was possibly knocked into the flood waters by a camper trailer that had been washed away from its location. He was pronounced dead at 830 am. A number of homes and businesses were flooded in town and several propane tanks were floating in the flood waters. Numerous roads throughout Reynolds county were flooded due to the heavy rains.

April 2017Flash FloodGreeley-Between 7 and 10 inches of rain fell causing widespread flash flooding. Numerous roads were flooded across Reynolds County including Route F west of Ellington. A number of water rescues had to be performed in Ellington due to Logan Creek rising well above its banks. Also, there were water rescues performed in Lesterville due to flash flooding. In Ellington, the only grocery store and a Dollar General store were flooded.
May 2017HailGreeley-Two to three inch diameter hail was reported in an area from Bunker to two miles northeast of Bunker.
May 2009Thunderstorm WindGreeley-The survey of damage indicated a large swath of straight line winds with estimated speeds of 60 to 70 mph over the northern third of Reynolds county and parts of northwestern Iron county. Much of the damage was due to fallen trees. While trees were down over most of Reynolds and Iron counties, the tree damage was most concentrated in an area between Bixby and Reynolds, eastward to an area between Ironton and Glover. Within that area, microbursts occurred, with estimated wind speeds up to 100 mph. Three particularly intense microbursts were surveyed along Highway KK just south of Highway J, along Highway UU north of Bunker, and along Highway 49/72 near Lesterville. In these areas, it was noted that up to 80 percent of the forest had been felled. Scattered structural damage, mostly to roofs and outbuildings, was also noted.
