Population over time

2 figures

Goehner grew from 154 to 181 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

September 2025FloodGoehner-On the morning of September 1, 2025, thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding concerns to portions of eastern Nebraska, including southern Seward County. Radar estimates for the event indicated total rainfall amounts ranging from 3 to 6 inches. These estimates were directly corroborated by public rainfall reports, which documented amounts such as 5.51 inches four miles northwest of Dorchester, NE, 4.43 inches five miles north of Dorchester, NE, and 3.97 inches three miles west-northwest of Milford, NE. By 6:35 AM CST, after the excessive rainfall had concluded, emergency management reported that the resulting runoff had caused water moving over numerous roads located south and west of Milford, NE.

August 2009Thunderstorm WindGoehner-Thunderstorm winds estimated at least at 65 to 70 mph knocked down trees and power lines, flipped some center pivots and flattened corn from south of Goehner into the Milford area. An on-site weather station near Goehner measured 65 mph wind gusts with this storm, but more damage and probably a little stronger winds occurred in the Milford area. Vehicles and homes sustained damage due to the fallen trees, and several roads, including Highway 6, were temporarily closed because of downed trees. Milford city maintenance workers estimated it would take approximately two weeks to clean up.
May 2008Tornado (EF0)Goehner-A brief tornado touchdown was observed by spotters and relayed by the communication center in Seward county. The tornado touched down in open country northeast of Beaver Crossing. According to The Milford Times, a dairy farm north of Beaver Crossing sustained damage when a hay shed was lifted up and flipped onto another shed, but it was unclear whether the damage was due to the tornado or from high winds that spread across the county later in the evening in advance of thunderstorms to the south. This brief tornado was from the same super-cell thunderstorm that spawned several larger tornadoes along Interstate 80 from Kearney through Aurora earlier that night.
May 2000Thunderstorm WindGoehner-Thunderstorm wind gusts of 70 mph were reported by the public.
