MR. CHAPMAN, from New York, respect- fully informs the citizens of Cincinnati, that he intends opening, on Thursday the 17th inst. the above-mentioned rooms, for the purpose of teaching

Practical Penmanship,

on an entire NEW PLAN, as taught by the inven- tor, J. CARSTAIRS, of LONDON. This system, being founded on the most scientific rules of na- ture, renders it more easy to acquire and prac- tice than any other system ever presented to the publick. Persons acquiring a hand-writing in the ordinary mode of teaching, are never able to write with full rapidity, as on this system. Ease, rapidity, and uniformity, are the great advantages required.

Ladies and gentlemen of mature age, who do not write with ease and legibility, will derive great advantage in a few lessons. To profes- sional men and men of business the advantages are indescribable.

Mr. C. has in the last six years taught more Ladies and Gentlemen than any one professor in America: great attention will be given in teaching to make pens systematically.

Rooms are so arranged as to admit ladies and gentlemen separately, from the hours of 9 to 12 A. M. and from 3 to 6 P. M. Further particu- lars made known at his room, Broadway Hotel, where an explanation of the system will be given. March 14, 1831

He hopes to give general satisfaction; and will use endeavor to keep the credit of his men and hacks up, and not have genteel people say, we won't ride in that old hack that carries all de- nominations of wretches, if they have a quarter of a dollar.

Horse keeping he intends to reduce if any other regular stable keeper does; as he thinks, with the large supply of hay and oats which he has on hand, and contracts for large quantities, that he can afford it as cheap as any other that will do the same justice; but he intends to con- fine himself to honorable principles.

His carriages are all of a brown or beautiful green color, well calculated for

and such calls shall be done punctually attended to on as reasonable terms as any other in the city: but he hopes to be always enabled to say, and have others say, that Martin is not like the fellow I have heard of, that so soon as sickness or death appears, that he's after the funeral like a buzzard after the carrion.

J. & J. GRAHAM in connection with THOS. ROBERTS, of Wheeling, Va. have opened an extensive COAL YARD, opposite the Phoe- nix Paper Mill, where they intend keeping a large supply of Coal of the very best quality. - They will contract to furnish factories and pri- vate families by the year, on moderate terms. They are now receiving a few boat loads of the very best, raked, Wheeling coal, which they will deliver to families from the boats at a low price. Their carts will always be in readiness to car- ry coal to any part of the city. Orders left at J. & J. Graham's paper warehouse, Main street, or at the coal yard, will be immediately attend- ed to. January 6, 1831.

COACH MAKING.

THE subscriber very respectfully informs the public that he has taken the stand recently occupied by C. Lehman, on Second street, between Vine and Race-sts. and has commenced the manufacture of POST COACHES, COACHEES, CHARIOTEES, BAROUCHES, PHÆTONS, GIGS, SULKEYS, and every description of vehicle hung on steel springs, after the most modern eastern style, and in the most durable manner. Having procured eastern workmen in every branch of the business, together with his own experience for the last seven years in New-York, he will be enabled to produce carriages of every description, in point of style and elegance, not surpassed in any of the eastern cities. Particular attention will be devoted to POST COACHES, and stage proprietors can be furnished with any number and size, carrying from six to twenty passengers, by forwarding their orders in time. A specimen will be kept on hand of the most approved construction. All orders will be gratefully received and promptly attended to.
