Further Description of Important Features Exterior is unaltered and fairly well maintained. rough surface of handmade brick and stringlines of designe apparent. Typical pair of atched windows in gable end often seen in brick houses along Miami-Erie Canal. MULTI RESOURCE 43. History and Significance Convent was the fifth built by Father Brunner of the Precious Blood from 1845-1856. The large influx of German Catholics was served by the zealous and dedicated nuns who were schooled and housed in the string of ten convents in the Mercer County area.

This is one of three still standing intact. Sisters sold building in 1923. Across the road, cemetery and other buildings of convent were added. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings Summer kitchen is attached to rear of house. Behind convent and to the north set back from the road is a new house just completed. Owner rents convent. Across the road and back a ½ mile lane, Fr. Sylvan Siegrist lives in part of convent building complex. 45.
