Further Description of Important Features This large church has been sandblasted and the spire has been removed at some time. The stage over the projecting tower has the single doorway on the facade. Peaked arches with sandstone trimmed buttresses give distinction to the building. Inside, white renders are outstanding and few alterations in decorations have been made. A statue of St.

Roth, special protector against residential diseases was purchased to 43. History and Significance Coolral plaque. The parish at St. Peter broke away from St. Joe in 1858. Roads were impassable in winter and a journey of several miles was intolerable. The altarsone and organ were carried by Peter Kerber from Union City, over twenty miles, on foot. The church was named in his honor. The first church was used almost 50 years with continual beautification until it grew too small. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings The rectory was built in 1912. Across the road to the south is a vacant lot where the parish school used to stand from 1870. It was torn down around 1960. Further Description of Important Features: Hip[ped roof dormers to the front and to the east have double square windows with panes divided into 8 triangles each. There is a wide boxed cornice with brackets at the corners. A 1 story veranda porch begins at the centrally located front door and wraps around 2/3 of the east side. 7 wooden columns and a wooden balustrade decorate this wooden porch with its open foundation which is covered with wood lattice work. 43. History and Significance This is the first rectory built for the St. Peter Parish. For many years the parish shared a pastor with Ft. Recovery, the pastor traveling between the two places for Sunday Services.

A two car brick garage has recently been added to the northeast corner. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings To the east of the rectory is the Saint Peter Catholic Church. To the north is the cemetery. Across the road to the south is a vacant lot where the parish school used to stand from 1870. 45.
