Has a square tower with an octagonal superstructure. 13. History and Significance Parish established 1852.

The first Catholic to live in St. Marys was one of the founders, Charles Murray. Although there was no church, Father Fenwick, the "Apostle of Ohio," crisscrossed the state from 1828-1833. At an Indian Treaty Assembly in 1818, three priests provided services for agents and Indians, many who were Catholic. Father Horstmann from Glandorf worked in the area. Bishop Purcell, the town during canal digging days before 1845. Second generation church. A brick school still being used as a parochial school is to the south, and was built in 1902.
