Further Description of Important Features Among the original features of this house are the brackets, the elaborate cornice and the window mouldings. Wide-board aluminum siding conceals other features. The front porch was added some time ago and is now deteriorating. The house has now been divided into apartments. 43. History and Significance Captain Meyers was the master of ill-fated "Western Reserve" which sank, taking the lives of many Vermilion families. Vermilion's history is closely tied to Lake Erie and its shipping history.
This property is an excellent link to that history. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings Large overgrown shrubs and large trees line this property. The attractiveness of the surroundings are marred by poor maintenance. 45. Sources of Information Harbour Town Brochure 46. Prepared by Steven McQuillin 47. Organization Lor. Co. Reg. Plng. Comm. 48. They continue to use the N.R. forms with a notarization, yet also talk about the intact historic setting. Many of the statements of significance leave a lot to be desired. I have separated the ones that are especially poor.
