Further Description of Important Features Once a plain warehouse structure, this building has been remodeled into a store. The exterior has had new horizontal siding added and the interior has been remodeled into a two story display space, with the original wood framing members left exposed. 43. History and Significance This was one of the buildings of the Gilchrist Lumber Company, run by a prominent Vermilion family.

This was part of a company which provided the building supplies and milling for the local contractors erecting the frame Italianate houses in Vermilion. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings This building faces a gravel parking lot and is located far back from Liberty Avenue. To the rear is the ConRail line. 45. They continue to use the N.R. forms with a notification, yet also talk about the intact historic setting. Many of the statements of significance leave a lot to be desired.

I have separated the ones that are especially poor. Cecil - Veenes with state Braham 10.22.79 ARCHEOLOGIST OTHER - Discussed with state & while some of the N.R. components are on the weak side, I guess I can accept, based on state assurances that these are the eligible resources & that the N.R. forms is the best approach.
