Distance from and Frontage on Road 30 foot frontage 42. Further Description of Important Features The elaborate cornice and the highly detailed hood molding over the windows give this building real distinction. A shake shingle overhang was recently built out over the first floor. The street level storefront has been somewhat modernized. It is identical to the masonic temple block to the north. 43. History and Significance This commercial building was built after fire had destroyed previous wooden buildings on the site. It is one of Vermilion's most attractive commercial buildings, and an excellent example of Italianate commercial architecture from the 2nd half of the 19th century. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings Located near the center of Vermilion's downtown, this building adjoins other commercial structures. Recently a street tree was planted in front of the building.

They continue to use the N.R. forms with a notification, yet also talk about the intact historic setting. Many the statements of significance leave a lot to be desired.
