Further Description of Important Features Long, overhanging eaves supported by large brackets, carved wood moldings over the windows and a projecting bay window facing the tracks are among the features of this little train station. It has long been unused 43. History and Significance The old Nickel Plate railroad came through Vermilion around 1880. This small passenger and freight station was built to serve the little village. Another station was built on the east side of the river to serve tourists visiting Crystal Park.
