It is rectangular in plan, two rooms deep, with a raised rear lean-to. Sash is asymmetrically placed on each elevation and consists of a mixture of 18th Century double-hung and "restored" casements dating from 1920. The center entry is enclosed within a hip roof-porch. A restaurant is attached to the rear. It is significant as a First Period house which retains most of its original features.
Especially notable are its chamfered frame and evidence of the size and arrangement of original casement windows. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community) The Wilson House possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials and workmanship and significant associations with the early development of Ipswich. in 1672 and built swe househsomb rim Wbetore1600 end 1692. bought this Framing reveals the northwest portion to be the earliest. Appleton, a veteran of the Andros Indian Wars, acquired the house & the house tn 1902 Col. Samuel Rebellion (see Area Form E) and the in 1702 and built the southeast portion.
