Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) The Brookwood Farm at present comprises a farmhouse (c. 1800) with a later ell and two other small additions, and a barn built in three sections, one of which has framing which strongly suggests either a construction date in the late 1600's or re-used material.
In the cellar of the house, old roof framing timbers (re-used in the huge uncoursed rubble masonry chimney base as supports for the hearths above), exist which have very early mortise and tenon joints and suggest, as does the masonry, that an earlier house may have existed on that site. The present farm house has most of its early 1800 interior trim intact: wide horizontal plank wainscoting, two small fireplaces with vernacular mantelpieces in the front rooms and a large one (now covered) across the back room. Window casings are secured by early cut nails (hammered heads) and some mouldings may be original. All of the sash, how- ever, is replacement material. This farmhouse and barn, together with the somewhat finer and larger Redman Farm to the south, represent the levels of agrarian life in the area of the Blue Hills. 10.

Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) The quarry known as Fuller's Quarry was opened in 1825, about 75 years after Quincy granite was first used for building purposes.
In 1893 Fuller sold his properties to the Quincy Quarry Company, who in 1894 erected a large mill for turning blocks of granite into both plain and fluted columns. Buttressing, still very much in evidence, indicates the extra structural strength needed to support the frames which carried the massive granite shafts and the mill machinery. Operations here ceased in 1907, but the ruins testify to the architectural and mechanical ingenuity evolved during the two hundred years when Quincy's granite industry flourished. 10.
