Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) No. 464 River Road was built ca. 1850-52 for William Perrin, originally of Lawrence. William was married to Mary Bailey, whose family owned most of the land surrounding this house.

At his death in 1889, the estate was worth nearly $5500, most in real estate. sstatse Unfortuntes . Ben Eotce Unfortunately debts forced sale of the property in The form and fenestration of this house are traditional, especially for such a late date. The imposing size and stylish center portico, however, are very striking and ambitious features in this landscape of rolling farms and vernacular "Colonial" farmhouses. The William Perrin House is an impressive example of Greco-Gothic styling in a rural area. In addition, the property has close ties to the agricultural history of West Andover. Retaining integrity of design, materials, workmanship, and setting, the property meets Criteria A and C of the National Register. 10.
