The plan is compact yet dynamic. Also interesting is the familial separation suggested by the architectural contrastsbetween this up-to-the-minute home and the ancient homestead at 88 Lowell St. The Richard Ward House is significant as Victorian middle class housing in a rural area of town. In addition, the Queen Anne building is historically related to two other houses of more ancient lineage, the series exemplifying cultural changes through several centuries.
