Jn Wheeler, "Practitioner of Physick" in the Palmer River Precinct, and by the Revolution was owned by the Ingalls family. As the sole example of its type and period which retains its pure architeetural form and character, the Ingalls-Wheeler House meets criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places individually. Architectural Significance This recently restored leanto house is the best remaining example in Rehoboth of a once common house type. Chamfered posts, girts, and summer beam were apparently never covered in the right hall.
The left parlor had Federal period modernizations, including the mantel and field panelled dado. The rear lean-to and northeast dog- leg ell are later additiona (ca. 1775-1800). An excellently pre- served pre-1840 side entry barn still stands on the property. Staple to Inventory form at bottom #217 Narkaniel Zuller' gone'near FeMlen Tineeg" Described by William Blanding as an old house even in 1780, Samuel Fuller's house on Summer Street was pulled down in 1847.
