Description . excellent X good -moved date -fair .unexposed The Hotel Westlake, a seven story apartment hotel which through a substantial rehabilitation torn down in 1917 to make way for the Miramar, renamed the Hotel Westlake prior to construction the reconstruction process, the building was "modernized" involving removal of the shutters, awnings, balconies, and arched windows in the vestibule.
Application of pastel green paint on appearance of the building that existed prior to the completion of the rehabilitation work in subsequent remodeling, including the exterior walls, vestibule, fenestration, interior wall structure and lobby with its ornamental embellishments as discussed below, the 1983 rehabilita- tion work recreated the red-tiled roofs, parapets, balconies, awnings and window ornamentation. As the accompanying photographs attest, the concern to return the building to its former the Spanish Colonial Revival upon the buildings' integrity has been to physically enhance, through the feeling and association derived from these architectural elements, the significance of the Hotel Westlake as a luxurious 1920s lake front hotel. had 400 rooms, many of which had kitchenettes.
Above the main entrance elevation on Lake Road, the Westlake is seven (7) stories high; along advantage of views of Lake Erie.
