Further Description of Important Features (Continue on reverse if necessary) Unusual facade combination of open bays framed by single band ornament. Bays separated by fluted columns, original capitals missing. Diaper patterned brickwork. Cornice with modillions. Ground story has been sympathetically renovated. The spandrels between the first and second floors have been resided in a new brick material. The building most important original features are intact and maintain the integrity which is needed for the building to be eligible to the National Register. 43. History and Significance The United Motor Sales Building was one of the automotive related buildings built when the street was known as an automobile row. Prospect Avenue was a good location for automotive related businesses.

The street had heavy passenger traffic, and a location far enough from the central business district to provide for cheaper rents. 44. The building has a mix of classical and contemporary elements, representing a transitional period in architectural styles. The building is a major presence at the eastern end of Prospect Avenue. Contemporary features include the large first floor showroom windows, the diaper brick pattern, and the circular terra cotta pattern that frames the showroom windows. The buildings classical features include fluted columns, and the modillioned cornice.
