Constructed in 1869, it was the residence of Samuel Colby, who purchased an estate lot in 1868 from B. Wood. Colby was a manufacturer and retailer of men's and boys' clothing who operated a store in the Union Block (#11), on Main St. Description: The 2-story structure with attic features a stucco-covered wall surface, divided into bays by slightly projecting pilasters. Its low-pitched hipped roof is capped by a large cupola with stickwork motifs, that are expressed most exuberantly in the house's Stick Style porches, on both main block and rear el1. Elongated 1/1 windows are shielded by small hoods mounted on feet. The Samuel Colby Estate possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and association. It meets criterionv C of the National Register of Historic Places as one of.
