Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) This is the most highly detailed of Taunton's 18th century gable roof cottares built during the period of agricultural settlement of Taunton's central, Dean Street and Summer Street corridor.
The house is exceptional architectyrally for its Iluted pilaster-trimmed door, frieze enriched with a continuous Iestoon motif, and for its excellent state of preservation. The structure was built for Jonathan Dean in c. 1766, one of the many members of the founding Dean Family, who established early larms in the area. Description: Ihe 12-story cottagdeatures wond frame construction, and is marked by a large. central chimney and close-cropped eaves. The Jonathan Dean House possesses integrity of locatinn, design setting, materials and workmanship.
