Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) Associated with another of the early 19th century East Taunton families, the Williams, this farm is one of the largest in acreage in the area. Its exceptional visual quality arises from both its attractive, open site and the unique fence which fronts the house.
Of te same period as the farmhouse, this fence is constructed of wood and it ornamented with openwork in a repeating, lyre-shaped pattern. It is likely that Enoch Willians had this structure built as his residence in c. 1850, when he is known to have purchased several parcels of land on Middleboro Ave. from surrounding farmers. His name is linked to the property throughout the 19th century. Description: The side hall, gable front house on 1} stories is continuous with a recessed wing and appended barn. Its side bay entrance features sidelights and a pilaster and entablature surround. Corner pilasters support eaves returns. Windows are 2/2 sash throughout, with the exception of a louvered triangular vent in the gable. 10.
