Its central entrance is set in a brownstone dripmold surround, repeated in the elongated Gothic windows throughout the church. The gabled roof is introduced by a corbeled frieze. The Winthrop Street Baptist Church possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and association. It is an ecclesiastical property deriving primary significance for its architectural distinction and it meets criteria C of the National Register of Historic Places as one of Taunton's most outstnading examples of mid 19th century ecclesistical architecture.
