However several adjustments have been made since it was first estab- lished. The marker is a rough granite post with the letters B and S inscribed upon it. The date of its erection is unknowa. Comment) This marks the boundary line between the towns of Barnstable and Sandwich. The boundary was established by Miles Standish and others as a committee from the Plymouth Colony. Although the precise date of erectionis unknown, the Race Lane boundary marker is sig- nificant for its associations with the history of Barnstable's boundary establishment. It thus meets criterion A of the National Register of Historic Places, and possesses integrity of location, design, materials, workmanship, feeling, setting and associa- tion.
