It is significant for its associations with West Barnstable's agricultural history and with the Jenkins family. It is also important as a well preserved homestead reflective of West Barnstable's early history.

The house thus meets criteria A, B and C of the National Register of Historic Places. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community. This 2 1/2 story, 4 bay house has a low pitched gable roof with an off-centered chimney in line with the off-centered front door. The house trim is narrow over shingle cladding. The front door has wide vertical trim boards and a triangular pediment with a plain five light transom. The windows feature wide trim on top and have blinds. The window panes are large 2/2. There is an ell on the north end. Shouldered posts are used in the house's construction, indicating an 18th century date. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community.

The Jenkins family, owners of the property in the 1800s developed the area for farming and raising of livestock. They vere involved in the religious, agricultural, social and political affairs of the village which contributed to its stability and growth. The family was involved in the cranberry industry which developed in the area in the last half of the 1800s.
