Barkhurst Mill Shrake, one of Ohio's foremost bridge builders during the period from 1850-1875.

Of the many covered bridges built by Shrake, only three are still standing, and only one of his Until the late 1940s, Morgan County had 15 covered bridges, but construction of Burr Three of these spans, the Barkhurst Mill Covered Bridge, Helmick Mill Covered Bridge, from Rosseau to the Morgan County Fairgrounds in 1953.
