“The Mineral County Courthouse, also known as the 1883 Esmeralda County Courthouse and the Old Mineral County Courthouse, is an historic county courthouse building located at 551 C Street in Hawthorne, Mineral County, Nevada. Built in 1883 as the Esmeralda County Courthouse, it served as such until 1907 when the county seat was moved to Goldfield.”

A partial collapse occurred on the southbound lane of Nevada State Route 359 that closed the road at 4:11 PM PST, Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Event time based on a separate NDOT report of water on the road near the same location, or 22.0 mi S of Hawthorne, NV.

June 2015	Hail	Hawthorne	-	The Nevada Division of Emergency Management reported golf-ball sized hail.
June 2015	Tornado (EF1)	Hawthorne	-	The storm survey was supplemented by a public video of the tornado moving along 5th street in Hawthorne. The tornado was determined to be EF-1 for 0.3 miles on the east side of Hawthorne (near 5th street) and EF-0 elsewhere. Approximately 10 to 15 homes and businesses were severely damaged along with power lines and road signs. One 2 foot diameter tree was blown over onto a mobile home and 2 vehicles were severely damaged. This tornado was associated with a non-supercell thunderstorm.
July 2014	Flash Flood	Hawthorne	-	A spotter reported that highway 359 south of Hawthorne and Lucky Boy Pass Road were closed due to flash flooding/debris flows. At least one vehicle was stranded in mud. A video was shared on Facebook showing fast-flowing water over highway 359.
