August 2019Thunderstorm WindEast Line-The National Weather Service team conducted a storm survey of impacts from a severe thunderstorm. The team confirmed a microburst occurred in an area roughly bounded by Ruhle Road on the west and Route 9 on the east. The area of greatest damage, and strongest winds, was located on the east side of the Northway in the Malta Gardens and Woodfield communities. Here, several large hardwood and softwood trees were snapped and uprooted. Some of those trees landed on homes and cars. No direct wind damage to homes or businesses was observed. Based on the degree of damage, wind speeds were estimated at 90 mph.
May 2018Thunderstorm WindEast Line-A concentrated area of wind damage impacted the Travers Meadows subdivision in Malta. Several houses sustained shingle and siding damage. A basketball hoop and metal sign were bent. In the vicinity of Cramer Road, extensive tree damage occurred and a newly framed home collapsed.
