Storms near this place
2 since 2023Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Lairdsville in 2 storm reports between 2023 and 2025: 2 tornado. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| June 2025 | Tornado (EF1) | Lairdsville | $125,000 | A pre-dawn line of severe thunderstorms dropped south across the county. Rotation occurred in a kink in the line of storms, generating an EF1 tornado from just south of Westmoreland, through the western edge of the Hamilton College Campus, to near|Clinton. Numerous trees were uprooted or snapped, and a farm sustained significant damage to its silo and outbuildings. Debris from the farm was lofted at least 1000 feet across the field, with some of it impaling the ground as debris missiles. While there was this focused corridor of convergent enhanced EF1 tornado damage, other scattered tree damage could be found throughout the area associated with damaging winds up to 70 mph from the line of severe storms. |
| August 2023 | Tornado (EF1) | Lairdsville | $10,000 | A tornado touched down onto College Hill Road with numerous downed and uprooted trees. Damage continued northward onto a local golf course where additional trees were downed in multiple directions. The tornado then lifted once it reached Seneca turnpike. |
