June 2021Thunderstorm WindQueechy-An NWS Storm Survey confirmed a series of microbursts between Canaan, NY and the New York/Massachusetts border. Damage began near the intersection of Route 22 and Beebe Hill Road, just south of Route 295. The Canaan Department of Public Works reported approximately 50 trees down in a remote wooded area. A newspaper reported a tree down on a car with damage to the windshield and hood. Seven roads were closed due to downed trees and wires. The width of the damage varied from 10 yards to up to a mile wide. The damage continued across the border to Richmond, MA.
