Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The federal mineral resources record lists
19 workings within 5 miles of URGER (canal tugboat): 11 producers, 8 past producers.
11 still produce. What was taken out: Sand and Gravel, Construction, Clay, Stone, Crushed/Broken, Bloating Material. Distance is straight-line from the
map coordinates, so a quarry counted here may appear on a neighbouring
settlement's page as well.
Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The National Weather Service names
Waterford, the town this property stands in, in 13 storm reports between 1993 and 2017: 6 thunderstorm wind, 4 flood, 2 hail, 1 lightning.
The reports record 1 death. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office
filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date
opens the federal record of that event.
Lightning struck a steel pylon at Alcathys Marina, adjacent to where a 17 year old male was standing. The male was knocked unconscious, and was transported to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead the next morning.
Flooding occurred along the Hudson River in Saratoga County. Numerous roadways, houses and riverside camps were flooded. Some properties had several feet of water in them.||In Schuylerville, a family had to be evacuated from their Schuyler Island home. Flood waters from the Hudson River undermined the back of the house, tore out an in-ground pool and inundated the house with up to 5 1/2 feet of water. Route 29, Ferry Road which crosses Schuyler Island, was closed between Route 4/32 and County Route 113, River Road. Fort Hardy Park went underwater.||In Stillwater, Route 4 from Wilber Road to River Road along the Hudson River was alternating one-way traffic due to flooding. Flooding also occurred on Ferry lane, River Road and Bunce Lane along the Hudson River.
