July 2002Thunderstorm WindSkaneateles$1,000,000Thunderstorms winds downed numerous trees and wires from Skaneateles through Marcellus, Marietta, and Amber to Otisco. The worst damage was in the village of Skaneateles. In the village an antique boat show was wrapping up. The wind overturned many sailboats on the lake. West Lake Road was hard hit. The wind sheared off the roof of an apartment building on Jordan Road in Skaneateles. A state of emergency was declared in the village and town of Skaneateles. Trees fell on a few houses. More than 3,000 customers lost electricity.
August 2009Flash FloodSkaneateles$15,000Heavy rain caused road flooding on State Route 20. There was also basement flooding.
June 1998Flash FloodSkaneateles$15,000A complex of early morning thunderstorms produced flash flooding in southwestern sections of the county along Skaneateles Creek. Several roads were closed for a few hours immediately adjacent to the creek. Also, some nearby homes had severe basement flooding and even some water into the first floor. By mid morning, thunderstorms had dissipated and water levels receded. However, residual boundaries left behind by this area of thunderstorms helped spark isolated severe weather later in the afternoon across central New York.
