Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The
federal wildfire occurrence database
lists 463 fires within 5 miles of Van Wyck-Wharton House
between 1992 and 2020, burning about 704 acres in total. 46 started naturally. 73 were recorded as arson.
Distance is straight-line from the map coordinates, so a fire counted
here may appear on a neighbouring settlement's page as well.

Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The federal mineral resources record lists
38 workings within 5 miles of Van Wyck-Wharton House: 30 past producers, 6 producers, 1 occurrence, 1 prospect.

Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The National Weather Service names
Fishkill, the town this property stands in, in 27 storm reports between 1994 and 2024: 18 thunderstorm wind, 7 hail, 1 tornado, 1 flash flood.
No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office
filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date
opens the federal record of that event.
A cold front spawned a line of heavy showers across eastern New York during the early morning hours of September 28. A cell broke loose from the line and became a super cell that spawned a tornado of F0-f! intensity across Fishkill, Dutchess County. The length was a little over a mile and the width varied greatly between 25 and 100 yards. Most of the damage was to trees, but some wires were blown down and a transformer blew up. Flying debris shattered a window in a home. No injuries were reported with this tornado.
On the evening of May 9, a single cell thunderstorm became severe as it moved over Dutchess county. Wind gusts from the storm knocked large tree limbs and power lines down in the village of Fishkill.
Severe thunderstorm winds downed trees in the Fishkill area late on the 28th of August. Lightning was responsible for damage to a porch in Binghamton and for starting a fire which caused serious damage to a vacant house in Freehold.
