Powerful airmass thunderstorms developed during the evening hours. Numerous trees and power lines were downed over Orange County. As the storms moved into northern Nassau County, violent winds downed more trees and power lines. At a festival in Oyster Bay a large tent, with about 70 people inside, was blown over.
