“Bluff Point Light, also known as the Valcour Island Light, on Valcour Island in Lake Champlain was in service from its construction in 1874 until 1930 and was one of the last lighthouses on Lake Champlain to be named. It is now part of Adirondack State Park and operated as a museum by the Clinton County Historical Association, an affiliate of the Adirondack Coast Cultural Alliance (ACCA).”

Trees and wires down in Peru and along Lakeshore Drive in South Plattsburgh. In addition, several airport hangar roofs suffered wind damage and an old DC-3 aircraft was pushed through a chain link fence with damage to fence and aircraft.
An area of low pressure moved into southern Canada during July 3, 1997. The associated cold front moved across northern New York during the late morning and afternoon hours. Showers and thunderstorms preceeded and accompanied these storms and some resulted in locally heavy rain and strong winds. Small hail...generally 1/2 inch or smaller was also reported with a few of the storms.
