Numerous businesses and some homes suffered extensive damage to roofs...numerous large trees were uprooted...and at least one semi truck blew over. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

May 2022Tornado (EF0)Dodson$50,000The tornado touched down just southside Dodson and moved across|the south side of town before moving across open fields to the|Oklahoma border. The tornado was relatively wide and exhibited|some signs of being multi vortex on storm chaser video, but|estimated wind speeds were only high end EF0. Along the path,|there were numerous large tree limbs snapped and a few uprooted|trees. There was damage to roofs and porches of several homes and|some weak out buildings were destroyed. One unanchored travel|trailer was rolled 40 feet and destroyed as well. There were a|few isolated power poles broken, but most remained standing along|the tornado path. The tornado did cross the county line and continued into Harmon County Oklahoma for a short distance.
April 2012Flash FloodWellington$50,000A storm chaser reported that streets in the town of Wellington, Texas were flooded under eight inches of water. Local law enforcement officials reported that numerous homes, roads, and buildings were flooded in Wellington and that U.S. Highway 62 between the towns of Dodson, Texas and Hollis, Oklahoma was flooded. There were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
December 1993Thunderstorm WindWellington$50,000A line of thunderstorms developed over the Texas panhandle and moved very rapidly to the east. Outflow winds associated with this line produced winds from 60 to 75 MPH and one report of dime-size hail. Power and phone lines were down, car windows broken from flying debris and numberous signs were blown down. Local Police Departments and Sheriff's offices reported most of the initial damage.
