July 2014HailVega-A line of thunderstorms moved across Oldham County during the late evening hours of the 16th. As the line moved near the town of Vega (Oldham County), a local law enforcement officer 6 miles northeast of Vega (Oldham County) reported golf ball size hail (1.75 inches). After producing this hail, the line of thunderstorms continued to move to the south-southeast across the Texas Panhandle.
May 2013HailVega-A supercell thunderstorm that developed along a retreating dryline in Deaf Smith and Oldham Counties tracked to the northeast across the southern Texas Panhandle. A Vega (Deaf Smith County) Police Officer reported nickle size hail 3 miles south of Vega. The supercell continued traveling in a northeastern direction which took it out of the county shortly after 10 pm. No injuries were relayed with this report.

June 2009Tornado (EF0)Vega-A tornado touched down about one mile west of Vega around 1708 CST and tracked east northeast for about one mile where it lifted around 1711 CST about one half of a mile north northwest of Vega. The tornado remained over open country and no damage or injuries were reported.
June 2003Flash FloodVega-Water was reported over the road on the Frontage Road on the north side of Interstate 40 between Vega and Adrian. Also...a truck driver reported eight to nine inches of water on U.S. Highway 385 four miles south of Vega for a length of a hundred and sixty feet.

Skywarn spotters along with sheriff offices and fire departments provided excellent real time reports during this severe weather outbreak. The larger hail occurred over native pasture land with no damage reported.
