Flood waters moving downstream through Elk Creek caused Bugle Lake in Independence to flood. As the water levels rose, evacuations of businesses and residences near the lake occurred. The flood waters covered Elm Street and went into the basements of several houses.
Numerous trees were blown in unspecified locations across Trempealeau County. Some of these trees went down on homes and power lines. One mobile home was flipped by the winds.
Between the hours of 4:15 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. CST, 4.00 inches of rain fell in Independence. This caused flash flooding in the Independence area with water over various roadways and culverts. Some area roads were washed out while creeks were flowing out of their banks.
A severe thunderstorm that tracked across central Trempealeau County caused crop damage to around 150 farms. Around 2000 acres of alfalfa were destroyed along with almost 1100 acres of corn. Most farmers were able to replant the lost corn acres.
