Storms near this place
4 since 2008Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names New Hope in 4 storm reports between 2008 and 2022: 3 tornado, 1 flood. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| May 2008 | Tornado (EF0) | New Hope | $10,000 | A tornado produced sporadic EF-0 damage with winds up to 65 mph along New Hope Road in extreme southeastern Limestone County just north of the Tennessee River, where convergent wind patterns were noted in a grass and wheat field. A larger area of grass and wheat was flattened along County Line Road south of Swancott Road. Minor tree and roof damage occurred at a residence in this area. |
| January 2022 | Tornado (EF0) | New Hope | $1,000 | A tornado touched down just west of County Line Road in Limestone County, where a couple of trees were uprooted. The tornado then moved east-northeast into Madison County. |
| March 2016 | Tornado (EF0) | New Hope | - | There was enough evidence to suggest that the tornado continued through northern Morgan County and crossed the Tennessee River into extreme SE Limestone County. A supplemental survey completed by the University Alabama Huntsville determined that the tornado did cross the river during its dissipation stage, and produced minor tree damage along the river bank in Limestone County. The damage associated with the weakening tornado was comparable to weak EF-0 damage. There was minor damage recorded slightly further downstream, however that damage did not meet EF-0 criteria. Therefore, the official tornado tracked was ceased at the river bank on the Limestone County side. |
| July 2013 | Flood | New Hope | - | Areal flooding persisted on fields and some roadways through the 6th. |
