These adobe apartments, though situated on the same parcel of property, are actually two separate but adjoining struc- tures, each housing two dwellings. The structure to the south is a flat roofed Sonoran building -with a brick coping, "while the adjoining building is a.shed-roofed, irregularly shaped structure. The row of flush-fronted apartments con- tinues the of long apartment blocks extending north up S. Meyer Avenue, -while the shed roof breaks the contin- uous line of parallel rooflines. PART I. Alterations and additions: Of the two structures, the shed-roofed building was probably built first. Because of their dissimilar sises and shapes it is unlikely that the two buildings were con- structed together. Neither has undergone significant exterior modifications since they were "built. B. Historical Persons and Events Connected with the Structure: Pedro and Manuel Martinez, both tinsmiths, and Francisco Martinez , a car- penter > are the probable builders of these dwellings.
The Martinez family is associated with this property^both through ownership and occupancy rec- ords from Pedro Martinez and his wife, Concepci6n, had a daugh- ter, Julia, who married Feliciano Fimbres. Fimbres and his wife lived in the apartments next door S. Meyer), before building their residence across the street, at 509 S. Meyer Ave. The property next passed to the Herreras family, who owned property to the south of the block, and ten years later fell into the hands of Bernabe Robles. A number of short- term, Spanish-surnamed, working-class tenants have occupied these apart- ments since PART II.
