The history of Worcester County was published 2 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.
F. N. BouTWELL is a native of Craftsbiiry, Orleans County, Vermont, where he was born July 30, 1835. His early education was acquired at the district school. At the age of sixteen he commenced the apprenticeship of a printer in Amherst, N. H., and served three years. He then worked as journeyman in Montpelier, Vt., Boston, and Fitchburg, Mass., and Nashua, and Milford, N. H., until 1858, when he purchased the "Milford Republican," and was the editor and publisher of that papar until 1 852, when its publication was suspended on account of the war. After this he worked as a journeyman most of the time until 1867, when he established a job printing office in Milford, N. H., which was purchased the following year by Mr. J. M. Blanchard.
