Named in the 1915 county history

The history of Union County was published 5 years after the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

ten thousand dollars, in which are the fire department, council chambers. opera house and jail. The town now owns and is protected from fire by a late pattern of a motor truck costing about seven thousand fi\'e hundred dollars. The town is an exception to most small towns in that it has expended upwards of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in well paved brick streets. Tliis impro\'ement was commenced in 1907 and now amounts to o\'er three and one-half miles in length. Street wells sunk in clusters here and there furnish the town with ample water supply though there is no regular waterworks system.

Provenance

Read by machine from the printed index of the Sanborn fire insurance atlases of Union County, Ohio, held by the Library of Congress. Sanborn atlases published before 1930 are in the public domain. Only names that at least three of four independent readings agreed on are published, and no spelling has been corrected: what appears here is what the recogniser returned from the ink.
