Named in the 1902 county history

The history of Washington County was published 18 years after the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

Robert Breckenridge first settled in Wesley township in 1811; was born in Scotland in 1794, and died in Barlow 1871. He was one of the first elders of the Presbyterian church, which office he held until his death. Was married to Catharine Harvey, who was born in 1794. The surviving members of their family are Nancy, Eliz- abeth, Mary, and James H. The latter was born in 1832 in Barlow, and was married to Catharine Reed in 1860, who was born in West Virginia in 1835. He now owns a farm of eighty acres, and is one of the substantial farmers of the township.
