Named in the 1881 county history

The history of Licking County was published 18 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

The first Sabbath-school in Etna was a union school, organized in Etna village. Children of all denominations attended it, but, about 1841, the Methoclists organized a school of their own, which has been continued ever since. This school is active and vigorous at present, with a membership of fifty or more.
