Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Ogilby in 10 storm reports between 2001 and 2025: 8 flash flood, 2 thunderstorm wind. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.

WhenEvent Place namedHarm What the report says
August 2025Thunderstorm WindOgilby$10,000Caltrans reported downed power lines blocking both directions of I-8 near the Gordons Well Road exit. No injuries were reported. Time estimated by radar.
January 2021Flash FloodOgilby$10,000An upper level low pressure system parked off the coast of northern Baja California spread considerable deeper moisture north and into Imperial County on January 20th. The deep moisture combined with modest instability to produce widespread showers, some of which were moderate. Embedded isolated thunderstorms resulted in locally heavy rain that caused an episode of flash flooding in eastern Imperial County just north of Interstate 8 during the morning hours. At 0953PST local law enforcement reported flash flooding along Ogilby Road north of Interstate 8 and roughly 4 miles northwest of the town of Felicity. The flash flooding resulted in debris flowing across the highway as well as the closure of Ogilby Road. There were no reports of accidents due to the flash flooding. A Flash Flood Watch was in effect at the time of the flash flooding.
August 2021Flash FloodOgilby$5,000An Imperial County Public Works official reported there were multiple washouts along Ogilby Road, after heavy rain impacted the area, that would take a few days to repair. Ogilby Road had to be closed to traffic as a result. There were two areas east of the road with radar estimated rainfall of around 2 inches and several washes flow toward and across Ogilby road. The specific locations of flooding impacts and extent of damages to the road were not shared. Timing estimated from radar. No injuries reported.
March 2020Flash FloodOgilby$2,000A wet Pacific storm system brought widespread rain to portions of far southeast Imperial County on March 10th; rain intensity increased during the early afternoon hours and eventually resulted in flooding to the northwest of Yuma and west of the Colorado River Valley. At 1447PST the California Highway Patrol requested closure of Ogilby Road south of Highway 78 and north of Interstate8 due to rapidly flowing water. There were no reports of accidents due to the flash flooding. A Flash Flood Warning was issued for the area shortly after the road was closed.
September 2019Flash FloodOgilby$2,000Scattered thunderstorms developed across the eastern portion of Imperial County during the afternoon hours on September 25th. Some of the stronger storms generated heavy rain, with peak rain rates in excess of one inch per hour. The heavy rain led to some flash flooding along Ogilby Road between State Route 78 and Interstate 8. According to the California Highway Patrol, at 1449PST flash flooding along Ogilby Road resulted in the road becoming closed from Interstate 8 through State Route 78 due to a flooded wash covering the road in between those points. Due to the road closure, no vehicles were able to drive through the flooded wash and no accidents were reported. A Flash Flood Warning was issued, but for areas to the north of the flooded wash.
July 2019Flash FloodOgilby$2,000Isolated monsoon thunderstorms developed across portions of eastern Imperial County during the afternoon hours on July 23rd. The stronger storms produced locally heavy rains with peak rain rates in excess of one inch per hour; the heavy rain was sufficient to cause one episode of flash flooding across the far eastern portion of the county. According to the California Highway Patrol, at about 1600MST flash flooding occurred along Ogilby Road, about 11 miles northwest of Felicity. The highway patrol indicated that low clearance vehicles would not be able to make it across flooded portions of the road and as a result the road would be closed until further notice. A Flash Flood Warning was issued at 1719PST, after the report of the flooding. No accidents were reported due to the flooding.
August 2022Flash FloodOgilby$1,000Ogilby Road closed near the intersection with Sidewinder Road due to flooding. Vehicles were stranded between two washes pushing sediment and debris onto roadways. No injuries were reported.
August 2025Flash FloodOgilby-Ogilby Road between I-8 and Highway 78 was closed due to flooding. Timing estimated from radar.
July 2021Flash FloodOgilby-California Highway Patrol reported that Ogilby Road between I-8 and SR 78 was closed due to flooding. No damage or injuries were reported.
August 2001Thunderstorm WindOgilby-Severe thunderstorm wind gusts uprooted trees.
