an important mining town lying 2,000 feet above sea level at the junction of the Similkameen and Tulameen rivers, 73 miles west of Penticton, 47 west of Keremeos and 75 south of Merritt, in Similkameen Provincial Electoral District and Yale Land Registry District (Kam- loops). It is the centre of a coal basin of approximately 16 square miles, with five workable seams ranging- from 7-16 feet. The coal is eemi-bituminous and excellent for domestic nurposes. Is served by C. P. R. Kettle Vallev Line, and is the terminus of the Spokane- Princeton branch of the G. N. Rj'. Has electric light, water, and local and long distance Government tele- phones. Has Anglican, Presby- terian and Catholic churches and public schools. Population, 1,000. Local resources: Coal, gold, plat- inum mining, and ranching.

Among the numerous species of game to be found within easy reach are the grizzly bear, mountain goat, caribou, deer, geese, duck, grouse, while the many mountain streams teem with the numerous varieties of trout and other fish.

To the Alpine climber there are plenty of unconqulered snow-clad peaks that offer all the difficulties and dangers of the Swiss Alps. To those who wish to get a glimpse of the rugged grandeur of this sea of mountains, without the danger, there is an auto road which affords this pleasure, or the mountain trail either for foot or .on horse-back.

Arrow Lakes - 27 miles south of Revelstoke the Columbia River loses its identity in a chain of lakes. The C. P. R. from Revelstoke connects at Arrowhead with a palatial line of steamers, which lands the tourist in Robson in 10 hours. Arrow Lake has been likened to Lake Geneva. There are sheer, rocky cliffs, the heavily timbered slopes, the fertile of the settlers dotted here and there.

Dutchman Caves. - Three hours east of Revelstoke on the- C. P. R. one can visit these wonderful caves with their subterranean passages, their century-worn arches, their large chambers whose walls have been worn smooth by the rush of waters as they tore their way into tne heart of the mountains. Seven miles from the Caves is . the Big- Glacier on the C. P. R. A palatial hotel accommodates the tourists who flock from every part of the world to take in the grandeur of the scenery of this summer resort. Swiss guides are ready to show parties the best trails and the best have been made and a week here during tie hot summer months will never be forgotten.
